Have a look at the rather modest GNU Education activity
<http://www.gnu.org/education/education.html>. According to the GNU
help page,

We are looking for some help in announcing what's going on around
the world in free software for education, in writing or
translating documents or howtos. We would even be happy if
someone would take over managing of the whole GNU education
     activity.

Furthermore, the Digital Speech Project <http://www.digitalspeech.org>
is forming campus Digital Freedom groups; evidently, the one at the
University of Kentucky has been particularly successful (as cited by
the FSF bulletin).

The experience of Napster shows that we should also permit
noncommercial verbatim redistribution to the general public -- when so
many of the public want to copy and share, and find it so useful, only
draconian measures will stop them, and the public deserves to get what
it wants.
