Hello,
I have the same problem as dicribed by Steve Lung when trying to remap
the default alsa (v 0.9.4) sound device to the dmix plugin.
alsa-xmms 0.9.11 (and mplayer) refuses to work correctly.
It seems to work but freeze when you click on the stop button.
To answer (partially) to Steve Lung, it seems that the alsa-xmms plugin
violates the ALSA API as Jaroslav Kisela says here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/address@hidden/msg06902.html
It should be very nice if Mathieu Sozeau could fix the problem because I
think we're all waiting for dmix plugin to be the replacement for all
the dirty sound servers that doesn't work properly (esd, arts...)
