Thanks for your warm response and your thoughts. I understand the weight of 
having to stay option-compatible with previous software.

But would it break compatibility with wget or be otherwise undesirable for 
wget2's `--output-file` default behavior to be identical to that of 
`--output-document`? I.e. create a "log.1" then "log.2" etc. if the original 
exists when somebody calls `wget2 --output-file log "https://www.example.com"` 
(except if clobber is specified).
