Why this is necessary? There should be a valid reason to use
variables for executables; it is unthinkable to define a variable for
every little utility out there. If we have to rebuild GNU Coreutils
and redefine `mv' to something different than the default on every GNU
system (including outdated distros), there must be something wrong in
our code.
Or am I missing something?
