I’m following the Taler demo: https://demo.taler.net/en/
I use the Tor browser.
When I reach the point where I try to send the KUDOS to my Taler
wallet, I get the following error message:
‘Could not open the wallet database. Firefox is known to run into this
problem under “permanent private mode”.’
“Permanent private mode” suggests to me that Tor may be the problem.
Is Taler simply not compatible with Tor yet? Or is this a bug I can
fix somehow?
Yes, wallet extensions are fundamentally incompatible with Tor Browser.
Tor Browser has a goal of storing nothing (except bookmarks and other
information explicitly saved by the user) across sessions. Any wallet
will need persistent storage, which Tor Browser is designed to deny.
Tor itself is probably usable with Taler, but you will need to use
another wallet.
