I am organizing a session for the upcoming North American Regional
Science meetings in Santa Fe, November 12-14, 1998 with the working
title: "Crisis as Opportunity: Adaptive Agents and Community
Development."   Those who have made  firm commitments will be presenting
case studies of communities where an economic or environment crisis
served as the impetus for substantial , postiive change in the
community.

There is the possibility of substantial synergy between empirical and
simulation studies.  If you are working with ABMs related to this issue
please consider making a presentation at the session.
