Hello,

It is very difficult to answer a question worded in a so general manner.

There is always an user space in a Linux distribution, and practically all of
them support socket communication and most D-BUS, so I don't understand what
makes such environment non standard.

For instance it is pretty common that speech-dispatcher communicates through
Unix sockets (this is the default).

Please tell us which distribution you intend to use, what accessibility
software and versions are shipped with it.

Did you actually suffered of a long delay between a key press or spd-say and
espeak speech, with what version of this software and in which environment: in
console mode or in a graphical environment and then which ones?

Hopefully this information will allow us to better understand your concern.

With best regards,

Didier
