==== Description: ====
An HTML-Info viewer and tools.
HTML-Info is a definition of Info files with HTML. Tools built around
HTML-Info are intended to replace the current Info viewers.
The intention is for the GNU documentation format to be more easy to generate
from other tools, making documentation easier to build. Tools exist to build
HTML from markdown, creole, rst, perldoc, texinfo, etc... An HTML based Info
viewer might be able to view all of these as a single documentation unit.
HTML-Info does not exist yet, but what we have as output from the existing
tools is a good start. We will define the semantics of HTML-Info, based on
current HTML output, as we go.
==== Other Software Required: ====
browserify - MIT - http://browserify.org/
nodejs - Expat - http://nodejs.org/
jquery - MIT - http://jquery.com/
triecomplete - BSD - https://www.npmjs.com/package/triecomplete
==== Other Comments: ====
This is a project initated by rms.
The upload artifact is related but not a foundation. It is the artifact of
http://gnudoc.ferrier.me.uk/ which is a proof of concept of a browser based
HTML-Info reader. The dependencies above relate to the artifact, not the
project. It seems impossible to set up a project without an artifact, which
ordinarily would be a good idea but in this case is slightly annoying.
Here is rms' statement of the project and a request for people to work on it:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2014-12/msg02161.html
Here is my reply:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2014-12/msg02165.html
That is part of a long thread discussing the whole thing.
