Liberty Eiffel -- now the GNU Eiffel Compiler -- is a free Eiffel compiler
started from the SmartEiffel code base. Its goal is to retain from SmartEiffel
its rigour; but not its rigidity.

Think of Liberty as SmartEiffel down from its ivory tower.

The only required dependencies are:
- a modern C compiler, such as gcc
- a libc, such as glibc

Other dependencies are optional: mostly wrapped packages:
- glib, gobject, gtk, cairo, pango
- GNU readline
- libffi
- zmq
- and more

SmartEiffel used to support other well known non-free OSes.

Although that support was not removed, we don't make any effort to keep it
up-to-date (we all hack on free OSes).

People are welcome to update that support.
