The current workflow for a question about the design of the guide of
this type (for which I don't feel completely capable of giving a
justification) is for the person asking the question to email Richard
about it and CC this list, requesting specifically that he reply all so
that the list as a whole can see.

It might make sense to assemble some of the questions into an FAQ at
some point.
