Pardon me:

1) My eyes simply ignored the "Extended attributes      on" report.

   Now I understand that something is different between the source and
   target filesystems.  But what is it about this one file that triggers
   the warning?

2) I didn't wait long enough for the script to finish before.
   Besides all the reports of file increments, there was more output:
