I don't know enough about QEMU emulation to answer your Q but I can speculate based on general principles
The problem you describe may be not directly related to running multi-core, there may be only a symptomatic relationship. Unless you really know what the technical issue is, you're guessing and might be guessing wrong. It's quite a leap to connect] audio output quality with multiple cores.
In general, higher levels of anything are built on lower layers and require lower layer functionality. So, in your case the issue could be a more fundamental kernel issue which would show up in higher layers
Related to underlying issues, you might try full emulation (qemu-system) instead of paravirtuaized acceleration(eg KVM in your case). Again, without knowing the true technical issue YMMV.
Speculating,
Tony
Yes, I do know about other options such as multibooting and turning off all processor cores but one. But they're really uncomfortable. This is the reason why I'm interested in emulation instead.Maybe I just don't get it. So if Mac OS X doesn't support CPU affinity, I can't EMULATE a CPU with one core, can I? I can emulate a completely different architecture such as ARM, but I can't do this? It seems a bit strange to me.WineBuG
