After all these mysterious things, I decided to make a new installation of 
windows xp. That helped! No problems any more :-)) 
Obviously the change of the "hardware"  (the new qemu-kvm version or some of 
my testing of different options) destroyed something deep inside XP. Thanks 
for all your thoughts and tips. They helped me nevertheless :-)
