I used the same web tutorials as you. But for GTK itself, you can use
GTK documentation. It's quite trivial to find out the correct python
syntax when you know the C syntax.

Anyway, I think the best source for examples is here:
/usr/share/redhat-config-*

Looking at redhat config tools' code should learn us a lot.
