We have a bunch of contractors who work with us, and our current system allows them to clock in and then out, and will add the time they spent to a task in a project. They hit start, they can pause it, then they hit stop and add in a description of what they were doing. Is there something similar to this in phpGroupWare, and if not does anyone have an idea on how long it would take to add it?
I think the Projects app has that as part of its features but it has been a very long time since I looked at it. You'll definitely need to read the stuff in its docs folder to get it going though, it's not hard to use as it is to setup :) If Projects doesn't currently have that there is still hope. At the Conference last fall I think I saw a similar feature demo'd by Christian, though I don't know if that app is publicly available yet. Can anyone confirm? Even failing that, it shouldn't be a difficult feature to add, but unfortunately resources are spread thin already working on full php5.2 support so you'd have to code it yourself (we would certainly review a patch if you submit it) or sponsor the feature.
