Are you using IMAP or POP3?  POP3 does not support folders.
If you're using IMAP, what IMAP server?  Most every IMAP server you should 
choose
UWASH unless you have Cyrus.  And if your IMAP folders are not in ~/mail/ then 
use
UWASH-maildir and enter the dir you are using.
