theoreticly you shoudl be able to just untar,run setup and it shoudl upgrade 
all your tables.

In reality, I would backup you DB, then rename you phpgroupware directory, 
untar to the old directory name, and run setup.  Maybe even copy over your 
old header.inc.php.
