Thanks for the explanation. I tried the three different methods, and found changing the navigation_extra.makefile working at first try. So, now I have an "environment" where I can explore C programming, with parazzi :-)

Your modifications to the poly_survey_adv routine appears very interesting to me.
The reason for why I like the zamboni-style surveying pattern is because for me the surveying areas are usually relatively short and narrow, (e.g. 300x200m), and spacing between flightlines maybe 30m, so the resulting turn-radies will actually be close to minimum turnradius and traveldistance in turns close to the least possible. Besides, having  control over the turns makes it easier to get the plane to follow the flightlines closely, and it is easy to detect any deviations from the planned flightpattern when flying.
 
If the light- and weather conditions are good, I hope to start testing flightpatterns in a few weeks.
