Hi Jochen,

You will normally immediately notice if the uplink is not working,
since anything you cange in the GCS won't have any effect.
Everything that is shown in the aircraft strip is the status from the
aircraft: so if the mode changes there, it's really the mode on the
aircraft that changed.
Also if you move a waypoint it will rotate until the change is
confirmed from the aircraft, so if it stops rotating it's clear that
it's working.

Regarding to settings, the value you see left to the
slider/buttons/drop_box is the actual value on the aircraft. It's is
transmitted periodically, but you can poll a specific value by
clicking on it.

I guess we could enhance the telemetry status indicator to also show
if the uplink is working, e.g. show the ping time. The link agent
sends the PING message to the aircraft every 5 second, and calculates
the time to when the PONG answer is received.

Regarding the mode changes: of course this only works when the RC is
off. Think about it, the RC is the safety link and always has
priority! Otherwise you would really end up in trouble, e.g the safety
pilot thinks he is in manual according to his switch position, but he
is actually in another mode because someone tried to set it from the
GCS...

Cheers, Felix
