Follow-up Comment #31, bug #37613 (project octave):

I was also surprised for a minute now. But the point is that quadgk internally
uses a coordinate transform, which transforms also the integrand (multiplying
it by the derivative of the old by the new independent variable or something
like that), and this broadcasts to the size of the input. Indeed, if you use
complex integral boundaries, then no transformation is done, and octave errors
out. The next bug found. I will fix it at bug #62468.
