Follow-up Comment #29, bug #37613 (project octave):

With respect to my comment #25: at another point in the paper than the one
quoted in comment #2, Shampine says "we interrupt the computation when a
subinterval is so short that the effects of finite precision arithmetics
intrude". Thus, I am very certain that it was never intended that the
computation silently proceeds with a contribution to the integral and the
error of zero. I would argue to remove the test, as it costs efficiency also
when it is false, if it would be true very probably the code will error out
with other messages (like a too large number of subintervals), and even if it
should finish, the integral will be reasonable.
