Follow-up Comment #10, bug #55727 (project octave):

With a crossbuild of the "clean" default branch (w/o local patches but updated
to the GEJSV cset) the crash also occurs. 
So that patch of bug #48564 is off the hook. If it weren't I'd also expect to
have seen problems on Linux (building the dist archive for mxe-octave includes
a 'make check' in my setup) and there were none there.

I think the best next step is to backout the GEJSV cset and build that one.
Let's see when I'll have time, maybe tonight.
