Follow-up Comment #8, bug #59018 (project octave): I can not say that the variable editor is the problem, but I have not had a crash since I have made a conscious effort to not use it. I do know that I had crashes that occurred when I was doing an operation that did not involve me selecting or manipulating something in the variable editor, but it is very likely that I had used the variable editor at some point during the session before then.
