Follow-up Comment #5, bug #57439 (project octave): I spent a bunch more time looking at this and finally came up with the attached patch. We probably also need similar changes to use absolute/canonical directory names more completely in the load path. And possibly to completely overhaul the load path classes. And rethink the way that function objects are stored in the octave_value class hierarchy. But maybe this change is enough for now. Can you try it and see if it works for you? Meanwhile, I will write a commit message and get it ready to push.
