Follow-up Comment #17, bug #57529 (project octave):

Many thanks, I managed to build qhull from source with debugging symbols
(jumping through a few more hoops than you...) and it worked fine with it.
This made me realize the issue, which was as you predicted: a mismatch version
between the Qhull libraries (7.2.0) and header files (7.3.2) in the installed
packages. I'm not sure to understand how my system ended up like this but I
must have missed something during my last upgrade or when I switched vendors
(for the "science" repository). For future reference, the two libraries that
must match are qhull-devel and libqhull*-*_*_*.
