Hi,
Today I experienced the font problem reported a few weeks ago.
When launching snowballs, all text letters shows as white rectangles,
approximately the size of the bounding box.
The configuration was
apt-get install from http://loic.dachary.org/debian Debian
GNU/Linux unstable, XFree-4.1, Mesa-3.4.2, libfreetype6, G400
32Mb RAM,
I was able to fix it by doing two things at once, which is
never a good idea to precisely diagnose a problem. However it gives us
a few informations about the problem itself and narrows the possibilities.
I fixed it only by changing lines in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
- De-activated the use of the framebuffer
(**) MGA(0): Option "UseFBDev" "true"
- Specified the RAM available on the card
(**) MGA(0): VideoRAM: 32768 kByte
because auto-detect only saw
(--) MGA(0): VideoRAM: 16380 kByte
I'm not sure what fixed the problem, I guess removing UseFBDev
did. I'd be interested to know if people experiencing the same problem
are able to fix it in the same way.
Food for thought ;-)
Cheers,
