[Monotone-debian] Uploading 0.42 for squeeze, and structure of the debia

Since Debian is finally about to release, I thought I'd dust off the
packaging logic for a new upstream version. I pushed a bunch of small
fixes to nvm.debian-diff (mostly stuff Lintian objected to) and I
would be happy to call that 0.42-2 and upload it officially on, say,
Monday, assuming the distro release doesn't slip (hence the post-dated
timestamp in the changelog). I haven't tagged anything yet, though.

However, going forward I notice that it is actually quite inconvenient
to use nvm.debian-diff together with release tarballs. I'd like to
propose that we create a brand new branch (maybe call it
nvm.debian-dir) which would contain *just* the contents of the debian
directory, at its top level, as new files. With post-0.42 tarballs
that don't contain a debian directory themselves, this would let us
work much more simply:

$ tar zxf monotone_0.43.tar.gz
$ cd monotone_0.43
$ mtn clone -b net.venge.monotone.debian-dir monotone.ca debian
$ dpkg-buildpackage -i

What do you say?
