Failed on "slow response time"

Hi all,

I'm considering using Monit to automatically restart a Java based app running on top of JBoss when the app start suffering from OutOfMemorry or just become sluggish. 

The best way to detect that is to actually react on a slow response time - or at least a response time average that's rising. Is there an easy to do that with monit ? Can someone simply "plug" a custom script/function to define a new "failed" statement ?
