Details:

That patch adds a function to optimize ip blocking lists, by removing
redundant ranges, coalescing overlapping or adjacent ranges, etc.

While not necessary (IP lists floating around are usually not optimized, but
not too bad either), it may prove useful later (merging of several lists ?).

The patch also contains some (disabled) testing code.


It was also suggested to drop ranges descriptions altogether for significant
memory savings. This is not implemented in that patch.
