<*DOH*>  I misspelled the url, mce instead of mxe.

Fixed the spelling error, used apt-key to trust the repository as you
earlier suggested and all is well, apt update finds the repository, DL'ed
the package list and lets me search it.

Now the hard part: Selecting what to install.  I will start a separate
thread for those questions.
