Thanks for your effort. However, I honestly don't know what to
do with this patch. Since it is based on the 2.18 release rather
than our current development version, you almost certrainly
duplicated lots of the upgrading work we've already done.

Also, it is generally quite hard to find few interesting
changes in a big patch. Also, reviewing that big patch at
once is simply not possible with justifiable expenditure.

If you feel that we should include some of your changes (and
we're always happy to get help!), please send us multiple
smaller patches, which are based on the current development
version:
