You should not (and I expect cannot, at this point) replace the M4
that Apple ships, but you can install your own copy of the latest
M4 in the usual way: by downloading the source, compiling it, and
installing it. The source tarballs contain install instructions.

You could also install it via a third-party package manager, such
as MacPorts or Homebrew.
