Although it is nice to have lynx working the way you like, the problem
with the ncurses version indicates a problem with the setup of your
system, which will probably cause problems with other applications,
perhaps in a subtle manner. I would advise, when you get a chance, to
review some of the ncurses documents and also "man 5 termcap", and
try to understand why your system was not working correctly. Having
a termcap/terminfo that actually represents your terminal may be a
worthwhile goal if you want programs to function as expected in the
future. If some of the slang assumptions match your system, that gives
a quick fix, but doesn't make up for an incorrect description.

I must admit, however, that I usually run lynx built with slang and
use a vt100 termcap/terminfo, using either the MSKERMIT vt320 emulator
or TeraTerm. I usually run it with color off, but sometimes with it
on, using the slang built-in assumptions. If it doesn't display the
way I desire, however, I am ready to adjust the termcap/terminfo
description to match the actual setup. You might want to look through
the termcap.src and terminfo.src files containing lots of terminal
descriptions. I think you get at least one of these with ncurses. They
are both available from Tom Dickey's ftp site.
