[Ltib] upgrading my kernel version from 2.6.28 to 2.6.30 on LTIB

I am running 2.6.28 kernel on imx233 evk board,  i would like upgrade my kernel version from 2.6.28 to 2.6.30 on LTIB.

1) getting source code from kernel.org:  http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.30.tar.gz

2) unzip it : tar zxvf linux-2.6.30.tar.gz
3) cd linux-2.6.30
4) apply freescale board specific pathces : patch -p0 < ../freescale.patch

is this correct method to upgrade my kernel version ??

or  What is the method shall i follow in order to upgrade kernel version ??
