So, what are the steps to install Linphone on Ubuntu? (I'm assuming
that the repository is out of the question).

A user in the VOIP Users Conference

Software supported the Opus Codec. I notice that linphone does
not, but I
also noticed on the Speex website (http://www.speex.org/) that

Speex codec has been obsoleted by Opus

continue to be available, but since Opus is better than Speex in

what the odds
are that we might see Opus in the future in the Codec list.
(granted I am
using a 3.5.2 version of Linphone from the Ubuntu repository)
In Linphone 3.6.0 you could activate Opus and also speex 8000,
speex 16000, speex 32000 and other audio codecs. (Never tried opus
myself.)
