The most common cause is network equipment somewhere between you
failing to route one of the audio RTP streams though correctly.
I know it's possible to run linphonec command-line client on Linux
with extra logging that would show the conversations between clients
as they negotiate where they'll try to send the streams, but I don't
know if similar log options exist on Linphone for Windows.
If it does, the conversations look sort-of like email messages in
the log file.
