It sounds from your description that you failed to remember to update the
ldconfig binary. Since you have installed those libraries, First use your
favorite text editor and verify /etc/ld.so.conf is up todate with proper
paths. Then try "sudo /usr/sbin/ldconfig" to update the binary ld.
