It's been years that I did not check that the ring_test program still works...
Does linphone works completely ?
For your information mediastreamer is going to be deprecated soon, a new 
mediastreamer2 is under development and seems currently to work better (less 
latencies, less oss card problems, less 'must catchup'...
However you need to checkout sources from cvs to get those mediastreamer2 
lastest files (the 1.2.0 mediastreamer2 directory does nothing at all).
