Hi Simon,

Below are the error messages that I got. I have included both the source and
binary install error messages. It looks to me that this could be a Gnome2
issue.

Thanks in advance!

**********************************************************
Compiling from source:
----------------------
...
checking for gtk-config... /usr/bin/gtk-config
checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.0... yes
checking for SmcSaveYourselfDone in -lSM... yes
checking X11/SM/SMlib.h usability... yes
checking X11/SM/SMlib.h presence... yes
checking for X11/SM/SMlib.h... yes
checking for XpmFreeXpmImage in -lXpm... yes
checking for gnome_window_icon_set_default_from_file in -lgnomeui... yes
checking for applet_widget_gtk_main in -lpanel_applet... no
configure: error: libpanel-applet is required. It is usually distributed in the
gnome-core package.
On Debian it is in libpanel-applet package. Please install also the
development package.

**********************************************************
Using the binary:
-----------------

address@hidden linphone]# rpm -ivh linphone-0.9.1-2.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
        libdb3.so.3 is needed by linphone-0.9.1-2
        libpanel_applet.so.0 is needed by linphone-0.9.1-2
address@hidden linphone]#

To solve this dependency I did the following:
ln -s /usr/lib/libdb-4.0.so /usr/lib/libdb3.so.3
ln -s /usr/lib/libpanel-applet-2.so /usr/lib/libpanel_applet.so.0

I was then able to get the RPM to install with the --nodeps option.
Unfortunately when I ran linphone I got the following messages:

address@hidden root]# linphone
| INFO1 | <osipua.c: 59> Starting osip stack and osipua layer.

| INFO1 | <udp.c: 76> Entering osipua thread.

Regards,

Craig

Could you please explain what are the troubles you have on RH8.0. I
can't help you otherwise.
Simon

If so could you please let me know if you had any problems and how you
fixed them. I have been able to get Linphone-0.9.1 working on RH7.3 but
have not yet been able to get things going on RH8.0.
