Why not just use two voices on the single staff, with separate lyrics to each voice, and spacer rests where the voice isn't singing?

But is there some command to change the lyrics' vertical placement so-to-speak on the fly? With a single voice? Usince \set Lyrics.alignAboveContext = "staff" doesn't seem to work.Or is there some smarter way to do this, maybe using partcombine or something? Thanks for the help!A
