hi

it's not really centered - it just gets a position quite below the usual
staff lines:

 \override Staff.StaffSymbol.line-positions = #'(-8)

\drummode:

I don't know if and how it's possible to simply start a drummode section
there (which would enable you to use snares, hihats and other drum
instruments) or if (and how) \setting or \overriding the staff's properties
can be achieved there.
