Re #3: it is - you can see the \version at the top of the Rietfeld file.

Re #4: I too thought it override the version for the including
file, but it seems it does not.  Perhaps the first \version
encountered is the definitive one?  But I'd be happier commenting
it out if GUB remains happy, just to ensure the user still gets
a warning if he omits the version.

Re #5: I originally used a .ily extension, but it was pointed
out that all the other files in /ly have a .ly extension.  I
think we should stay with .ly if possible (unless we decide
to change them all to .ily).

I've just discovered giving Layout a value has no effect.  So
I'll need to investigate this.  But I'll make this a separate
issue.
