Huh.  I've just run the extended version in issue 3100, and it fails in the  
notation manual using Patchy.  When I run it in my own directory/branch, it  
completes (after make clean, CPU_COUNT=3 make -j3).  This is somewhat  
obscure, to say the least.  For this issue here (the small version of it),  
there is not much of a point in it failing as it does not actually change  
much except _adding_ a new function without exercising it (well, in  
input/regression in one file, but that is not supposed to be looked at  
during normal make all).

The most likely candidate would be the DOC string.  I'll go through it with  
a fine-grained comb again.
