http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2567I don't think balloons were ever meant to go on spanners - is there a way this can be indicated in the docs? I'm pretty sure that what's happening is that balloons are triggering slur position calculations before horizontal spacing is finished, which causes a weird slur to be printed.
