I think it is time to think about doing something with lzma, but is lzip or xz the more commonly available command? They use different extensions too, I suppose we could look to see what is available.

The attached patch adds lzip support to lz/uz, fixes bzip2 support (.tb2), and documents the changes in the man pages for lz and uz.
