I've installed MSYS and MinGW, the latest version, and everything works fine. (I installed igraph with --disable-graphml.)

Please start over, with a clean igraph tarball, and if you run into the error, then tell me the commands that you run exactly, and send me the config.log file as well.

It is annoying because I am using the latest version of MSYS+MinGW we can find on the sourceforge web site...

This is very strange, PACKAGE_VERSION is simply defined in config.h.

Can you check your config.h file?

I'll take a look, but need to install MSYS + MinGW first.

You need the header files as well. Check the config.log file to see

what happens with the libxml2 check.
