Hi,

        I could not reproduce your problem 

                ( using texi2dvi (GNU Texinfo 4.5) 1.14) 

        but the manual says 

 @image{FILENAME, [WIDTH], [HEIGHT], [ALTTEXT], [EXTENSION]}

        try adding a comma, 

                @image{figure,} 

        or the commas 

                @image{figure,,,,}
