Please do not cross post your question [1].  This is very bad practice!
 If you receive an helpful answer, make sure that at all locations you
asked this question, that helpful answer can be found.  This way others
can benefit from it and the internet is saved from too many unanswered
problem threads.

Please be additionally more verbose about your system and Octave
installation method.  If you use Ubuntu and installed Octave via
gnome-software, a similar issue was reported [2] and comment #11 should
help.
