Question on info - files

Dear listmembers,

I just compiled octave 3.8 on my system and found that the info - files cannot be found any more.

After a while of struggling it turns out that this is caused by the fact that I am using packed files with gzip, say "octave.info.gz" rather than "octave.info". This is kind of astonishing for me because that used to work for a long time - and there was no change with regard to the info file processing within the spec file (I have a rpm-based linux system).

Can any friendly sould kindly tell me what needs to be changed during compilation in order to make octave aware of the fact that the info files are packed with gzip (as this always used to be the case)?

Thank you very much,

take care (and a happy new year!)

Dieter Jurzitza
