Hello Ben,

Thank you again for the suggestions.

I've uninstalled,cleaned the previous port

and (macport) installed octave-devel.

Octave itself seems fine, unfortunately I still can't plot 

anything as aquaterm keeps crashing.

In octave I get a warning:

octave:1> plot([1:10])

warning: no graphical display found

and the crash doesn't provide any useful information:

"AquaTerm cannot be opened because of a problem."

I'm guessing octave and gnupot are properly installed,

but aquaterm is not ? How can I deal with this ?

I think that is your best option.

I recommend you also install Gnuplot using MacPorts.
